Court discharges two women charged with disturbance of public peace

A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse, Abuja on Friday discharged one Veronica Toper and Favour Umukamoro accused of disturbance of public peace.

The Magistrate, Abubakar Sadiq withdrew the First Information Report (FIR) and struck out the matter following the prosecution counsel, Simpa Ibrahim’s application for same.

Sadiq, however, warned Toper and Umukamoro to desist from breaching public peace and live in peace with each other.

He also ordered that each of them should produce a guarantor to undertake that they would not fight each other again.

Earlier, the prosecution counsel told the court that Toper and Umukamoro who are roommates residing in Wuse Zone 6, violently fought each other and Toper bite Umukamoro on the breast.

He added that Umukamoro retaliated by hitting Topher with a mug on her head thereby causing each other injuries and disturbing public peace.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 113 of the Penal Code and punishable by same.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
