A federal court has ordered rapper Cash Out to pay $40 million to a woman who said he trafficked and abused her for years. Court documents show the victim, identified as J.M., was awarded $10 million to cover damages related to her harm, along with an additional $30 million meant to punish the conduct behind the case.
The lawsuit was filed in Georgia in 2022 and accused the rapper of violating federal anti trafficking laws. J.M. told the court she met Cash Out in 2013 and soon found herself trapped in a cycle of control that included threats, physical violence, and coercion. She said she was forced into prostitution and pressured to take drugs, leaving her fearful and isolated.
Cash Out did not respond to the lawsuit, prompting the judge to issue a default ruling late last year. The judgment was finalized earlier this month, locking in the eight-figure award.
The civil decision follows a criminal conviction handed down in July, when a jury found Cash Out guilty of running a sex trafficking operation. His mother, Linda Smith, and cousin Tyrone Taylor were also convicted. The rapper, whose legal name is John Michael Hakim Gibson, is currently serving a sentence of life in prison plus 70 years.
J.M.’s attorney, Matthew Stoddard, said the ruling sends a clear message. “Exploiting vulnerable people comes with serious consequences, and the law will hold traffickers accountable.”
