Tension erupted at the Delta State Government House in Asaba at the weekend when a cow attacked a staff member, causing panic among workers.

The cow, which was meant for slaughter, went on a rampage and injured several people.

One of the victims, a man in his 30s who attempted to subdue the animal, was severely injured after being knocked down and was immediately rushed to the emergency unit of the Government House clinic.

According to a source, the victim sustained deep wounds on his thighs and was initially taken to the Government House Clinic for emergency care.

He said, “Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to an undisclosed hospital where he is currently battling for his life.”

He further noted that another victim, identified simply as Peter, a cook at the Government House, also sustained injuries.

“The first two butchers called to slaughter the cow were unable to handle it and fled the scene. The critically injured victim was reportedly the second person called to take over the task,” the source disclosed.

As of the time of filing this report, the Government House had yet to issue an official statement. Drama as
