The former wife of late rapper Craig Mack is speaking publicly about his death and raising troubling claims about how he became ill.

Roxanne Alexis Hill-Johnson, who shares two children with the artist, said she believes Mack’s HIV diagnosis was not accidental.

In an interview with The Art of Dialogue, Hill-Johnson revealed she learned of his AIDS diagnosis just weeks before he died in 2018.

“The kids knew he had been sick, but no one told them what was wrong,” she said. According to Hill-Johnson, a coroner later told her Mack had likely been living with the illness for nearly a decade. “He went unmedicated all those years,” she added. “Why? I don’t know.”

Mack rose to fame in the 1990s with Bad Boy Records before leaving music years later. He was 47.

Hill-Johnson claimed the timeline placed Mack in New York when he likely became infected and said she believes it happened deliberately. “I believe him getting sick was something that was intentional,” she said, rejecting rumors about his sexuality.

“Craig was a very heterosexual man. Someone got to him.”

She also recalled Mack once warning another male artist to be careful in the industry, suggesting someone might try to harm him through an STI. HIV related complications were listed as his official cause of death, though his family publicly cited congestive heart failure to honor his wishes.
