About N24.7 billion was generated by Area 1 Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State in September 2025, with the total earnings for the third quarter 2025 at N72 billion.
This information was revealed by Controller of the Command, Comptroller Salamatu Atuluku, during a media briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday.
She informed journalists yesterday that her command intercepted controlled drugs with Duty Paid Value (DPV) worth millions of Naira at the Port Harcourt International Airport in Omagwa.
Business Post reports that it was the first full month of Ms Atuluku as the head of the command.
“In September 2025, the Port Harcourt Area 1 Command generated total revenue of N24.7 billion versus N12.5 billion in the same period in 2024,” she stated, attributing this rise to hard work, commitment, and renewed zeal of the officers and men of the command who keyed into the vision of efficiency, transparency, and innovation.
Ms Atuluku praised her predecessor, Comptroller Y.M. Hashim, for laying “a solid foundation for this success,” insisting that his contributions set the pace for the strong third quarter performance, which has been built upon.
On anti-smuggling of unwholesome products, she said that beyond revenue generation, the command has remained focused on one of its core mandates, the protection of the nation from the entry of harmful and prohibited goods.
“On September 22, 2025, a shipment arrived from Amsterdam aboard Allied Airway Bill No. 574-34543283,” she noted, stating that the consignment was declared as spare parts but after being subjected to detailed examination, it was discovered that the shipment had several pharmaceutical products concealed in it.
She listed the items in the consignment as “Tramadol Ratiopharm injections, Tramadol 50 Kapseln-1A-Pharm 50mg Hartkapseln, Generic Plus Paracetamol tablets, Doxepin tablets, and Phenyldam injections.”
