Searches for the artist D4vd rocketed worldwide after shocking reports surfaced linking a vehicle associated with him to the discovery of 15-year-old Celeste Rivas’ remains and pushed the young musician to the top of Google’s Year in Search list.
According to reports, global search traffic for the 20-year-old shot up after workers at a Hollywood tow yard inspected an abandoned Tesla that had been left unclaimed for weeks.
Inside the trunk, staff found Rivas’ body sealed inside a black bag. Authorities have stated that the car was connected to D4vd, though they have not publicly identified any suspects.
Rivas, who lived in Lake Elsinore, had a history of leaving home and had been reported missing several times throughout 2024. During that time, she appeared in social media posts with the artist and was said to have stayed at a Los Angeles rental property linked to him for periods. When investigators recovered her body in September, she weighed just 71 pounds.
She was reported missing from Lake Elsinore on April 5. Her remains were discovered on September 8 when staff at a Hollywood tow yard contacted police about a strong odor coming from the Tesla that had been abandoned in the Hollywood Hills before being towed.
Detectives later searched a Hollywood Hills residence tied to D4vd and seized electronic devices for analysis. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified the cause of death, but the manner of death remains undetermined because of significant decomposition. Law enforcement are still awaiting the results of the toxicology report.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Deputy Chief Alan Hamilton said, “Accountability is coming. They are going to get justice for Celeste Rivas. No one is off the table, including him.”
D4vd has since been named a suspect in the case.
