Dangote Refinery has effected a massive reduction in the price of petrol ahead of the yuletide season.
According to checks on Friday on Petroleumpriceng, Dangote Refinery’s ex-depot price dropped to ₦699 per litre, down from ₦828 per litre. This represents a ₦129, or 15.58 per cent, reduction in petrol prices.
Naijaonpoint understands that the latest adjustment represents the 20th petrol price review this year.
It would be recalled that the founder and president/chief executive of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has reaffirmed that his refinery will continue to reduce petrol prices to ensure competitiveness with importers.
Speaking to State House correspondents after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at Aso Rock on Monday, Dangote disclosed that the refinery’s ongoing price adjustments were part of efforts to make Nigeria’s domestic fuel prices more competitive.
“Prices are going down. The reason why prices have to go down, we have to also compete with imports,” Dangote said.
He further explained that Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals remains committed to maintaining price stability, even amid fluctuating global crude oil prices.
On November 6, 2025, the refinery lowered its petrol gantry price from ₦877 to ₦828 per litre, marking a 5.6% reduction. Additionally, its coastal price dropped from ₦854 to ₦806 per litre.
Despite efforts to lower fuel prices, Dangote acknowledged that smuggling continues to be a significant problem.
