Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Price To ₦699/Litre Ahead Of Christmas Travel Rush

Dangote Industries Limited

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, by 16 per cent from ₦828 per litre to ₦699 per litre effective December 11, 2025.

This latest adjustment is the refinery’s 20th price review this year, underscoring its aggressive pricing strategy as the festive travel season intensifies across Nigeria.

A source at the 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery, who asked not to be named, said the price cut was introduced to ease transportation costs ahead of Christmas, a period when millions of Nigerians travel across states to reunite with their families.

He said: “This is part of our contribution to ensure Nigerians enjoy the Christmas and New Year celebrations. We want to enhance the movement of Nigerians from one part of the nation to another at minimum cost.”

Similarly, a market analyst noted: “With the refinery expanding its distribution network nationwide, individual marketers now negotiate directly, enabling faster price adjustments and broader market reach.”

According to him, the refinery has positioned the new reduction as both an economic and social intervention. With interstate travel expected to surge ahead of Christmas and New Year, the lower gantry price is anticipated to reduce retail pump prices in many states, particularly in the North and South-East, where logistics costs typically spike during the festive season.
