Dr. Deji Adeleke, father of Nigerian music star Davido, has debunked rumours suggesting that Governor Ademola Adeleke is set to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a WhatsApp group chat tagged “CONCERNED CITIZENS OF NIG,” Deji Adeleke described the viral post fueling the rumour as misleading.
He clarified that ... being circulated, which features Davido, dates back to 2014 during the defection of the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke to APC.
Dr. Deji wrote, “Fake News. This was in 2014 when Gov Isiaka Adeleke defected to APC.”
Reacting to Dr. Deji Adeleke’s post, a social media user identified as Dapzy Ayoade Adebayo insisted that their political movement has no intention of joining APC.
Ayoade wrote, “We no dey go APC ooo abeg… Our ideology differs on many grounds, we are for the people ooo.”
His comment drew support from other group members who praised his response.
One member, identified as Oduyemi, condemned the source of the rumour.
Oduyemi wrote, “I don’t understand the desperation that’s responsible for some people to mill the fake news.”
He described the rumour as a calculated move to boost APC’s relevance.
“The merchants of Katikati are only trying to plant a rumour where it would be choked by the truth,” he added.
The rumour has been widely circulated on social media, causing confusion among political observers in Osun State.
