The Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that the party is officially ready to receive the Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf.
Naijaonpoint reports that the state APC chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, extended the invitation to Yusuf on Tuesday on behalf of the party’s immediate past National Chairman, Umar Ganduje.
Abbas described the invitation as a step towards unity, reconciliation, and the collective progress of Kano State.
He said, “The APC is ready to receive Governor Abba Yusuf with open arms so that, together, we can combine our strengths for the progress of the state.”
Meanwhile, the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) has urged Yusuf not to defect to the APC, which the public has widely rejected.
The NNPP Chairman in Kano State, Suleiman Dungurawa, during a press briefing on Monday in Kano, dismissed speculation that some party members were planning to create enmity between Yusuf and the party’s national leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Dungurawa noted that Kwankwaso does not support the ongoing political situation in the state.
The Kano NNPP chairman further advised residents of the state to remain calm and continue with their lawful activities.
Dungurawa also warned party members not to write their names on documents allegedly circulated by mischief-makers regarding the defection to the APC.
