Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has condemned in strong terms the late-night attack by bandits on Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in the Zuru Emirate of Kebbi State.
The attack, which occurred in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, led to the killing of the school’s Vice Principal, Malam Hassan Yakubu Makuku, and the abduction of several students.
Describing the assault as unacceptable, Matawalle said the Federal Government would not relent until the kidnapped students are safely rescued.
According to the minister, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to “swing into immediate action” to facilitate the safe release of the abducted students.
“The government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has directed that the state’s security apparatus swing into immediate action to ensure the abducted students are released unharmed,” he said.
Matawalle stressed the need for all security formations to work jointly and urgently, noting that coordinated operations were essential for both rescue efforts and the pursuit of the attackers.
While urging security agencies to intensify efforts, the minister appealed to residents of the affected communities to remain calm and avoid panic.
“Residents should remain calm and continue with their daily activities while government and security agencies address the situation,” he said.
He assured that the bandits responsible would be tracked down and brought to justice.
Matawalle extended condolences to the family of the slain Vice Principal and the families of the abducted students.
“I pray to Allah to grant him mercy, a peaceful resting place, and to console his family and loved ones over this painful and unjust loss,” he said.
