Attorney representing Sean “Diddy” Combs amended a previous lawsuit filed against Courtney Burgess, this time adding Ariel Mitchell and Nexstar Media, Inc., over claims made in a NewsMax interview back in 2024, accusing the jailed star of rape.
“This case is about Defendants’ willful schemes to fabricate and broadcast outrageous lies concerning Mr. Combs and then to leverage those falsehoods to enrich themselves, gain social media fame, promote their brands, strip Mr. Combs of his reputation and livelihood, and jeopardize his right to a fair trial,” the filing reads, adding that the interview did “severe reputational harm” to Diddy’s brand.
The lawsuit also alleges that Burgess “falsely claimed that he possessed videos of Mr. Combs involved in the sexual assault of celebrities and minors” and that NewsNation “recklessly repeated and amplified his lies as if they were true.”
“In this pitiful spectacle, all pretense of objectivity has been abandoned, as a global audience feasts at the all-you-can-eat buffet of wild lies and conspiracy theories,” the lawsuit goes on. “Mitchell and Burgess are among the worst perpetrators in this offensive scenario.
Diddy’s attorneys say NewMax did this, being aware that the claims were not true.
Back in January, Diddy filed against Burgess for $50 million on allegations of defamation. He is now seeking twice the amount.
