DJ Akademiks has responded to rumors circulating online that his dramatic weight loss is because he is using the weight loss drug Ozempic.

During a ComplexDay livestream, DDG is seen asking Ak how he’s doing.

“Man, they think I’m on Ozempic, n—a, not gon’ hold you,” he told the streamer.

DDG then gives Ak a chance to address the false reports.

“Nah. Here’s the funny part: if I was, I don’t know why it has a bad stigma though because, if I’m big as f–k and fat as f–k and I’m finna die ‘cause…I ain’t gon’ lie to you…I had breathing problems. I was that fat, n—a. If you unhealthy or you fat, they won’t applaud it?” He explained.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 42% of American adults are obese. Ozempic is a weekly injection that helps lower blood sugar by increasing insulin secretion from the pancreas, and some physicians prescribe it for weight loss. It works by mimicking a naturally occurring hormone, and as those hormone levels rise, the molecules reach your brain, signaling that you’re full, according to UC Davis Health.

Ak’s remarks come two weeks after fellow streamer Adin Ross accused him of being on the drug.

“I’m working out and learning to eat good and not drinking lean like you,” Ak clapped back. “You know what I mean?”
