The story of two men from Busia who famously exchanged their wives shocked Kenyans when it first emerged, raising eyebrows and sparking widespread online discussion. What seemed unusual at the time is now being described by the families themselves as a positive turn in their lives.
Afrimax English recently visited the families to see how they are faring, and both men confirmed that life has been peaceful since the unusual arrangement.
Christopher Baraza allowed his wife, Immaculate Nekesa, to marry Kevin Baraza because she reportedly had behaviors that made their relationship difficult and admitted she was in love with Kevin. Similarly, Kevin agreed to let his wife, Lilian Weta, marry Christopher because she felt Kevin was not her ideal partner, especially after he took a second wife. Lilian said she found peace living with Christopher.
The case initially came to the attention of the police after Immaculate had reportedly taken some of Christopher’s documents. At the station, both men reached an amicable agreement to exchange their wives.
Since then, both couples have reported living in harmony. Christopher and Lilian, as well as Kevin and Immaculate, say they are happy in their new marriages and have no conflicts with each other. They expressed gratitude, noting that the unusual situation helped each of them find a partner they truly connect with.
Both men added that they thank God for the outcome and remain optimistic about the future, believing that their marriages will last.
