Dr. Umar Johnson is weighing in on tennis icons Serena Williams and Venus Williams both marrying white men.
In a recent interview circulating online, Dr. Umar said it “hurts” him to see the sisters married to white men, referring to Serena’s husband Alexis Ohanian and Venus’ husband Andrea Preti.
“White people were calling Venus and Serena monkeys, apes, animals. They were not put out the tennis matches. Remember, there were white people asking for Serena Williams to be tested to make sure she was not a man,” he said.
“It hurts,” Johnson went on, explaining that Serena and Venus fought intense battles both on and off the court.
“Venus and Serena were the victims of psychological trauma at the hands of white America,” he said, later adding. “White people traumatized them two sisters.”
According to him, those experiences made their decisions more emotionally charged in his eyes. Johnson has often spoken out against interracial marriages, despite not being married himself.
“The white woman for the Black man is a white surrender flag he holds up to the white power structure to say, ‘I am buck-broken and I’m here for being taken,” he explained back in 2024.
