Tension has gripped Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State following the fatal shooting of a 60-year-old resident, Alhaji Ibrahim Nagode, by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

Nagode, the father of a notorious bandit kingpin, Haruna Ibrahim, popularly known as Fada, was shot dead amid heightened security operations in the area.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the killing happened as Fada was returning to his community shortly after a fragile peace accord was recently brokered between local bandits and the affected communities in Malumfashi.

Security operatives had reportedly intensified patrols across the area following intelligence reports suggesting that armed bandits were regrouping around nearby settlements.

In a bid to prevent renewed attacks, the joint troops were deployed to intensify patrols as proactive measure to forestall any hostile activity,” a security source said

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested all CJTF operatives linked to the shooting.

Sources said that the authorities are monitoring the situation closely, warning that the death of the bandit leader’s father could escalate tensions in the region.

The sources expressed concern over the potential for retaliation, emphasizing the importance of dialogue and adherence to peace accords to prevent further bloodshed.
