The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested one Eze Ezenwa Benard for allegedly circulating fake recruitment past questions and answers through social media.
The arrest follows rising rumours about DSS recruitment despite the Service not announcing any exercise on its official platforms.
Earlier on August 23, 2025, the DSS had issued a disclaimer debunking the sale of supposed recruitment past questions for ₦1,000, stressing that it never authorised such materials.
In a statement on Saturday, the Service revealed that the suspect operated a Facebook page, “Jobs and Education,” where he sold the fraudulent documents to unsuspecting Nigerians for ₦1,000 each.
“The DSS does not distribute recruitment materials through private individuals or social media platforms. Recruitment, when necessary, follows a specialised procedure in line with extant laws and due process,” the agency warned.
The DSS described Benard’s arrest as part of ongoing efforts to protect Nigerians from “fraudulent schemes of unpatriotic elements” and safeguard the integrity of its recruitment process.
Citizens were urged to remain vigilant, verify recruitment information only through official DSS channels, and report suspicious activities. The Service assured that offenders will face prosecution in accordance with the law.
