THE Ebonyi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of three young children by suspected kidnappers in Abakaliki, sparking concern across the state.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday at Nkwegu, opposite the Nkwegu Military Cantonment gate, within Abakaliki Local Government Area.
Police said the parents of the children reported the incident shortly after it happened.
According to the police spokesperson, Joshua Ukandu, the abducted children include a two-year-old boy and two girls aged four and two years.
He confirmed that the command became aware of the case on February 7 and immediately launched an investigation.
As of yesterday, police authorities said no ransom demand had been made and no arrests had been effected.
Ukandu noted that security operatives are actively working to locate and rescue the children.
The police command reassured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe return of the abducted children.
The incident has heightened public anxiety, particularly due to its location near a military facility.
