THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Kelly Okungbowa, popularly known as Ebo Stone, for allegedly spraying and mutilating the Naira in a viral video.

In a statement yesterday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed that Okungbowa, the suspended coordinator of the Edo State Public Safety Response Team (PSRT), was arrested after he was seen in a March 9, 2025 video spraying Naira notes at a bar.

“Okungbowa, who until recently was the coordinator of the Edo State Public Safety Response Team, was arrested owing to a viral video where he was seen spraying and mutilating the Naira at a bar,” the statement read.

The EFCC also confirmed the arrest of popular TikTok influencer Murja Kunya for a similar offence.

According to the commission, Kunya was initially arrested in January 2025 for violating the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, which prohibits Naira abuse and mutilation. She was granted administrative bail pending her arraignment at the Federal High Court in Kano, but she absconded when it was time for her court appearance.

Following intense surveillance and investigation, EFCC operatives tracked and re-arrested her on Sunday, March 16, 2025.

“Kunya was arrested for allegedly spraying Naira notes for fun during her stay in a hotel room at Tahir Guest Palace in Kano. After evading legal processes for over a month, she has now been taken into custody and is awaiting arraignment,” the EFCC said
