Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed grief over the death of former Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Solomon Ehigiator Arase, describing him as a patriotic Nigerian and a proud son of Edo State.
In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, the governor said Arase’s death was a huge blow not only to Edo State but also to Nigeria’s security architecture.
The statement read, “We have lost a great mind, a dedicated public servant, and an exceptional leader. Dr. Arase was a man of integrity and honour who served our nation with distinction, rising to the pinnacle of his career through sheer hard work and dedication.”
Governor Okpebholo hailed Arase’s career in the Nigeria Police Force, particularly his tenure as the 18th Inspector-General of Police, which he said was marked by professionalism, reforms, and a strong commitment to community policing.
The Governor further stated, “His legacy of service will be remembered for generations. He was a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration to many young police officers and aspiring leaders.”
Okpebholo extended his condolences to the Arase family and the entire Nigeria Police Force, noting that the late IGP lived a purposeful life that touched many.
“While we mourn his passing, we take solace in the fact that he lived a life of purpose, impacting positively on all who came in contact with him. May the Almighty God grant his family the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he prayed.
