THE Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) questioned former Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy Ohanenye, today over allegations of misappropriation, procurement violations, and the diversion of ₦138.4 million in public funds during the disbursement of the ministry’s 2023 budget.
According to reliable sources, the ex-minister arrived at the EFCC headquarters around 11 a.m. and was interrogated regarding her alleged involvement in the fraud.
Investigations reportedly revealed that funds intended for the ‘P-Bat Cares for Women Initiative’ were diverted for personal gain.
She has not been granted administrative bail as the investigation remains ongoing, sources confirmed.
Kennedy-Ohanenye was among the ministers dismissed by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024, having been appointed to the role on August 21, 2023.
