The Deputy Governor of Ekiti, Mrs Monisade Afuye, says women leaders of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the state have pivotal role to play in actualising Gov. Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that Afuye said this on Friday during a meeting with the APC women leaders in her office in Ado-Ekiti.
She advised them to be united and engage in aggressive mobilisation of members across the 16 local government areas “to place women in the book of reckoning within the party.”
Afuye urged the women leaders to ensure that they carry other members along in order to prevent loopholes that could encouraged anger and division in the party.
The deputy governor said that the party belongs to all members and that the governor is a passionate promoter of inclusivity, saying that no member should be ignored in the scheme of things.
She mandated them to synergise with other groups within APC, so that the proposed women mobilisation tour, which is to sensitise the people about the reasonability of the governor’s second term bid, would “hit the right target.”
Speaking, the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, announced that the local government tour would kick off on Monday, July 7, in Ekiti East Local Government Area.
Adubiaro said that the details of the tour would be released in due course to keep all stakeholders informed about the impeding mobilisation drives.
Also speaking, the Director-General, Office of the Community Communication, Mrs Mary Omotoso, charged the women leaders to work zealously towards achieving their common interest.
She said that the programme was the initiative of the Wife of the Governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, who believed in party’s cohesion and inclusivity, saying all hands must be on the plough to ensure victory for the governor.
The Chairperson of APC Elders’ Forum, Women Wing, Mrs Ronke Okunsanya, commended the leaders for their unshakeable support since the inception of Oyebanji’s administration.
Okunsanya emphasised the importance of oneness as a tool to achieving greatness and victory in the re-election of Oyebanji in 2026.(NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
