EKITI: Gov Oyebanji emerges APC consensus candidate for 2026 election

GOVERNOR Governor Biodun Abayomi Onyebanji was today adopted as the consensus candidate and flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in June 21, 2026 Ekiti State Governorship Election.
Onyebanji was unanimously affirmed as the state’s ruling party’s candidate following the voluntary withdrawal by a frontline aspirant for the primary election, Mrs Abimnola Olajumoke, at the exercise which held at Ekiti Parapo Pavilion along the new Iyin Ekiti road, Ado Ekiti.
 His consensus affirmation was announced by the Governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, as the Chairman of the Consensus Primary Election, alongside his deputy and Edo State governor, Monday Okhpebolo.
The affirmation announcement follows a motion moved by the Senate Leader and elected delegate at the special congress, Senator Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, and seconded by the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Stephen Aribasoye
Earlier, the national leadership of the APC had appointed Kogo State Governor, Usman Ododo, as chairman of the Primary Election Committee, while Edo State governor, Monday Okhpebolo, will serve as the deputy chairman and  Mr Taiwo Sunmonu as the secretary.
Also, the party had on Saturday, October 25, elected five persons per ward who are to unanimously affirm the candidature of Mr Oyebanji as the consensus flagbearer of the party for the June 21, 2026, Governorship poll in the state.
