A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has warned politicians not to be misled by others’ personal ambition.
Momodu stated this while reacting to remarks by the Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), David Mark, who told Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, to stop speaking for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the electronic transmission of election results.
Speaking via his 𝕏 account, he urged politicians not to allow anyone’s personal ambition to lead them to hellfire.
Mark charged Akpabio and the Senate to pass the law and allow INEC to decide on the issue of electronic transmission of results.
Momodu wrote, “Thank you, sir, our ADC Chairman, Brigadier General David Mark (rtd.), for your brilliant intervention.
“My personal advice to our politicians is: Don’t allow anyone’s personal ambition lead you to hell fire. Promote transparent democratic tenets and ideals.”
Meanwhile, Momodu has said that awful remarks about the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, always make him sad.
Naijaonpoint reports that the veteran journalist disclosed this during an interview on News Central’s programme, Politics HQ, while clarifying Atiku’s relationship with former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi.
Momodu vowed to work with either Atiku, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, or Aminu Tambuwal if any of them emerges as the party’s presidential candidate in 2027.
He added that people should not forget that Atiku gave Peter Obi the first national platform when the duo contested on a joint ticket in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said, “I’m very close to every one of them. Peter Obi has been to my house in Lagos, London, and Accra. I have also been to his house in Lagos. I know him very well, and he knows me very well.
“We have mutual respect for each other but I’m telling you that it’s not about who I want, my allegiance is to the party. If today, ADC decided to pick Peter Obi, I will support him with everything I have.
“If it’s Tambuwal, Amaechi, I will support them and if it’s Atiku; it’s even sweater because already I have been with him.
“I feel bad when I hear people talk bad of Atiku, don’t forget that Atiku and Obi worked together in 2019, it was Atiku that first gave Obi that national platform to come out as a running mate and they did well despite not winning.
“So they are not enemies, they are interacting all the time and everybody knows that Atiku is a perfect gentle man and a consummate Democrat who does not bear grudges against anyone.”
