The Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has revealed that he faced opposition and conspiracy from some quarters but credited his eventual rise to national leadership to divine intervention and unwavering faith in God.
Musa made this disclosure while sharing a personal testimony during a worship service at the Conquerors Global Assembly in Abuja.
According to the minister, there was a critical period in his life when forces worked against him, believing they had successfully brought him down.
However, he said God’s intervention turned the situation around and resulted in his elevation.
“We give God the glory for what has happened this year. Even when the enemy thought they were putting us down, they did not know God was going to lift us up,” Musa said.
He added that those who plotted against him underestimated the power of faith.
“In their small minds they conspired and thought they had won. But as long as you have God as your pillar, you will win,” he declared.
The former Chief of Defence Staff urged Christians not to lose hope in the face of adversity, reminding them that challenges are often stepping stones to greater achievements.
“If you are never challenged, you can never improve in life,” Musa said.
He further encouraged believers to remain steadfast, stressing that God does not abandon His people.
“Because we serve a living God, He will never give up on us,” he said.
Speaking on the resilience of the country and its people, Musa described Nigerians as strong and victorious, especially when united in faith.
“As Nigerians, we know we are strong, but we are stronger together with God Almighty. Nigerians are winners,” he said.
The minister also called on citizens to continually pray for the nation and its leaders.
“We must continue to pray for our leaders and our country,” he added.
Musa’s remarks come weeks after President Bola Tinubu nominated him as the Minister of Defence.
On December 2, the President forwarded Musa’s name to the Senate for confirmation following the resignation of the former minister, Mohammed Badaru, who stepped down due to health challenges.
Musa, who previously served as Chief of Defence Staff, was subsequently appointed to steer the affairs of the Defence Ministry amid ongoing security challenges across the country.
