England’s final preparations for Euro 2024 were dealt a blow as Iceland stunned Wembley in Friday night’s friendly.
After just 12 minutes, the Three Lions fell 1-0 down courtesy of a low strike past Aaron Ramsdale from Jon Dagur Thorsteinsson.

The goal also saw England equal an unwanted feat just nine days before they play their Euro 2024 opener against Serbia.
Gareth Southgate’s side have now conceded first in three consecutive games at Wembley for the first time since November 1954.
They had shipped in first in the 1-0 defeat against Brazil in March, before fighting back to draw 2-2 against Belgium days later.
Speaking on commentary for talkSPORT following Iceland’s early strike, former England defender Stuart Pearce said: “That came from a really poor press.
“[Cole] Palmer and [Harry] Kane should have been pressing a lot harder.
“Once they got out, it was decent play and Ramsdale will be disappointed to be beaten at his near post.”
England beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 3-0 on Monday night in their first warmup game for Euro 2024.
All of their goals came in the second-half amid a sluggish first period, which was the same story against Iceland before they fell to defeat.

Kane had an excellent chance to level for England in the first-half but he could only send Palmer’s excellent cross over the bar.
There were isolated boos at half-time but these became louder at the full-time whistle following a poor Three Lions performance.
John Stones was substituted for the second-half having seemingly taken a knock in the opening 45 minutes.
The result will come as a worry to fans ahead of Euro 2024 as many expect them to be favourites to win the competition.
