ENUGU REP DEPUTY MINORITY LEADER, HON. TOBI OKECHUKWU URGES NATIONAL ASSEMBLY TO ESTABLISH FRAMEWORK FOR MANAGING PARKS AND NATIONAL RESERVES.

Enugu State House of Representative Member, and Deputy Minority Leader, Honorable Tobi Okechukwu has urged the national assembly to provide effective management framework for national parks, before passing the bill seeking to establish additional parks and national reserves across the nation.

Hon. Okechukwu who moved a motion to step down the request by the presidency to establish additional parks, expressed worry over the poor state of some existing parks, which have become ungovernor spaces occupied by criminals, bandits and terrorist groups.

The Deputy Minority Leader decried the level of decay of infrastructure of Pascari, Sambisa and Yankari games reserves, and advised the house to act from a point of knowledge of the security challenges facing the nation.

Stressing the need for a framework, he stated that the framework will enable the government achieve the purpose of establishing parks and national reserves as well as ensure the safety of lives and properties.
