The March 18th governorship election in Enugu State was characterized by suspense, demonstration and calls on the electoral umpire by the people to declare the rightful winner of the governorship polls in the state.
In spite of the tension caused by the 4 days delay by the electoral panel in reviewing results from Nkanu East and Nsukka Local government areas which are the stronghold of PDP and Labour party candidates, a winner eventually announced.

Mr. Okechukwu Chukwuagozie, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the election and charged the governor-elect to do what is right and revive the state to its known standard.
” We are looking forward that Peter Mbah will do the needful by reviving the state. For the past eight years nothing has been happening in Enugu, no work has been done in Enugu. So he should bring the youths on board and retire the good cargo.”

Another resident, Mrs. Prisca Adaigwe said that the election was centered on capacity of candidates in bringing development in the state and appealed to the Governor-elect to keep to his promises.
Stressing the need for a credible candidate Chibundu Ejimeofor said that the election announced reflects his vote, noting that he voted for a good leader and not the party.
Also commenting, Miss. Chinyere who did not vote stated her displeasure about the outcome of the presidential election, and expressed confidence in the new leadership of Enugu in bringing positive change in the state.
In his remark, Mr. Emenike Okoro called on the Governor-elect to continue to prioritize the welfare of the people and he did during the campaigning period.
