The videos, which have been widely shared online, reportedly feature Engonga in romantic affairs with his brother’s wife, the wife of the vice president, the wife of the inspector general of police, and others. This scandal has raised concerns about his conduct and impact on public trust.
The government issued a statement clarifying the decision, noting that Engonga’s dismissal was formalized under Decree No.118/2024, dated November 4.
According to Real Equatorial Guinea, the decree cited Engonga’s alleged misconduct in office, as well as his social and family behavior, which were deemed incompatible with his public role.
Engonga is also the son of Baltasar Engonga Edjo, the current president of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC).
