Eric Adams is firing back after Andy Cohen’s sharp New Year’s Eve comments made headlines.
The former New York City mayor responded Thursday to Cohen’s on-air rant during CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcast, telling The New York Post, “I have two letters for him: AA,” seemingly referencing Alcoholics Anonymous after Cohen criticized him while holding a shot glass in Times Square.
Cohen, who was joined by Anderson Cooper and B.J. Novak as 2025 came to a close, turned to the camera and said, “I’d like to say, watching the final moments of Mayor Adams’ chaotic, horrible.”

He continued moments later, “I just want to say, I mean he’s got his pardons, he’s pardoned. Great, you got your pardons, go off in the sunset. We’ll, we’ll fiddle with what we have, with what you left us with.”
Cohen appeared to be alluding to the April dismissal of federal corruption charges against Adams, which was not a presidential pardon. Cooper and Novak looked nervous as the comments continued, with Novak attempting to lighten the moment by saying, “He can’t help himself.”
Cohen also took a shady swipe at Adams’ legacy, referencing the mayor’s Office of Rodent Mitigation. “I will say this,” Cohen said. “I think he may have dented the rat population. I think he got rid of some of the rats, but isn’t that a metaphor of sorts? Let’s call it as it is, honestly. It is 2026 and there are less rats.”
Cohen also he blasted Bill de Blasio back in 2022 calling his tenure “the crappiest term of the mayor of New York.”
