Algerian top-flight side MC Oran have entered discussions with former Tunisia head coach Jalal Kadri to take over as their new manager, following the departure of Eric Chelle, Soccernet.football reports.

Chelle, who led the team for just four months after joining in October 2024, mutually agreed to part ways with MC Oran last week to take on the role of head coach for Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

During his short tenure, the Malian tactician managed the team through a transitional period, but his departure has left the club without a substantive manager.

MC Oran are actively seeking a replacement and have reportedly reached an agreement in principle with Kadri, according to Tunisie-Foot.

The Tunisian manager, who resigned as head coach of the Carthage Eagles in January 2024 after their group-stage exit at the Africa Cup of Nations, is among the club’s top candidates. However, an official announcement is yet to be made.

The club has also explored other options, including Amir Abdou, former coach of Comoros and Mauritania.

MC Oran, currently sitting 10th in the Algerian Ligue 1 standings, hope to secure a new head coach before their league match against Belouizdad on February 2 at the Stade Olympique d’Oran.

Kadri brings significant experience, having previously managed Tunisia in key tournaments. If appointed, he will be tasked with steadying MC Oran’s campaign as they aim to climb the league table.
