Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has hinted that he is unbothered by the controversy surrounding his planned defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on January 12, 2026.
Naijaonpoint reports that while a faction in the state believes Yusuf’s decision was coming at the right time, as it will help the state to align with the centre, others in the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) consider the move as nothing but a betrayal of trust given to him by the leader of the Kwankwasiyya movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
In a video obtained by Daily Post, Yusuf, while addressing his supporters, stated that he is a man of action and does not believe in lengthy conversations.
He said, “I have never commented on the discussions that follow the issues at stake, because I don’t believes in talking too much.”
“What started small has been magnified as said by a Hausa Singer, Karamar Magana Tazama Babba. As everyone knows, I don’t believe in talking too much.
“I’m always an action man; the actions that will help my people as seen by everyone, that is what I believed in, not too much talk.”
Meanwhile, NNPP has lifted the indefinite suspension placed on Yusuf in 2025, following the conclusion of an internal investigation into allegations of misconduct.
Naijaonpoint gathered that the party announced the decision in a statement on Tuesday.
In a statement signed by the NNPP National Chairman, Dr. Agbo Gilbert Major, the party said the move followed a careful review of a report submitted by a committee constituted to probe the allegations, which were said to be linked to Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters within the party.
According to the statement, the decision was taken by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the NNPP, in consultation with the party’s Founder and Board of Trustees, during an emergency meeting held at the NNPP National Headquarters in Abuja.
