Former Manchester United attacker Anthony Elanga has tipped Super Eagles defender Ola Aina to make the Premier League Team of the Season following his impressive campaign with Nottingham Forest, Soccernet.ng reports.

Earlier this week, Aina was nominated for the FC25 Team of the Season. This nomination has come amid a largely impressive campaign with the Tricky Trees.

Nottingham Forest currently sit fourth in the Premier League and have a good shot at playing continental football for the first time since 1980, and Aina has been a major reason for that. The Super Eagles star has contributed two goals and one assist in 30 Premier League appearances this season.

Following his nomination for the FC25 Team of the Season, Aina and Nottingham Forest’s five other nominees had an interview where they were asked about their experiences this season. Former United star Elanga, who has also been a revelation, was asked about his unsung hero of the season, and he mentioned Aina and goalkeeper Mats Selz.

“I’ve got two in mind (two players for the Team of the Season), I’ve got Ola (Aina) and also Mats Selz. I can’t lie, Selz has been second to none,” Elanga said.

Will Ola Aina leave Nottingham Forest?

Ola Aina will become a free agent at the end of the season unless he decides to sign an extension before the end of the season. The 28-year-old right-back has been linked with a transfer to Liverpool and Manchester City, but nothing concrete has happened yet.

Aina has built a solid relationship with his Nottingham Forest teammates, and he seems to be loving life there with Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi. In fact, he has even confirmed that he loves the club. With Champions League football potentially in the offing, Aina could just decide to stay at City Ground next season.
