After releasing the Google Pixel 9a CADs yesterday, we can now confirm the four colors that the device will be available in, when it launches next year.
Google Pixel 9a will come in four colors once again, including the usual Porcelain and Obsidian colors. But this year, Google is ditching the Aloe and Bay colors for Peony and Iris. The Peony color will look similar to the base Pixel 9 which is also available in Peony, while the Iris color will be a bluish-purple option.
The Pixel 9a will be a tad taller and wider, with dimensions of 154 x 73mm. That’s about 2mm taller and about a millimeter wider. While it does also get thinner, now measuring in at 8.5mm, versus the 8.9mm thickness of Pixel 8a. With the nearly flush camera setup this year, this could mean a smaller battery.
Google Pixel 9a is set to get a major redesign
As we saw in the CADs that we published yesterday, the Pixel 9a is going to look very different from the Pixel 8a that was released this past May. And it won’t really borrow any of the design cues from the Pixel 9 series that was released in August. Instead, the Pixel 9a looks to be using a flush camera setup this year. Making it look a lot like the LG G8 ThinQ or V60 ThinQ from a few years ago.
It is adding the flat sides, like the rest of the Pixel 9 series. This seems to be the big design direction for every phone these days, and we can likely thank the iPhone for that. Additionally, having flat sides does make the phone more rugged, as the curved sides make it easier for the display to shatter when it is dropped.
The Pixel 8a was released in May this year, so we’re expecting a similar release date for the Pixel 9a in 2025. Though, phones do tent do get released a bit earlier each year, so we could see it launch a little earlier. However, with Google I/O in May, it’d be odd to do it much earlier than that.
