Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, one of the governorship aspirants who sought the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket in Adamawa State, has left the party and joined the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) ahead of the 2027 elections.
Multiple sources close to the politician and officials at the APM state secretariat confirmed the move to THE WHISTLER on Tuesday.
Haske’s supporters, including political strategists and grassroots mobilisers who backed his governorship ambition under the APC, have also left the party and joined the APM, THE WHISTLER gathered.
A close associate of the politician said the move will provide a new platform for Haske’s political ambition in the state.
The source urged his supporters to join the “train of victory”.
Haske, a 35-year-old businessman and philanthropist, had earlier declared his intention to contest the governorship under the APC, unveiling a seven-point development plan tagged the “A.D.A.M.A.W.A First Agenda” at a massive rally in Mahmud Ribadu Square, Yola.
However, internal friction, unresolved grievances, and contentious processes within the Adamawa APC primaries appear to have pushed the frontline aspirant and his supporters out of the ruling party.
The defection is expected to alter political calculations in Adamawa State ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial contest.
