Super Eagles and KRC Genk striker, Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare, has his eyes fixed on winning the Golden Boot in the Belgian Pro League, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 24-year-old has been a revelation for Thorsten Fink’s side this season, scoring 23 goals and providing seven assists in 44 games across all competitions.

Arokodare’s Genk tried to mount a title chase but ran out of steam. The Belgian Pro League will now head into the final matchday as the winner is poised to be between Club Brugge and Union Saint-Gilloise.

The lanky forward came off the bench to score in Genk’s 4-1 win over Gent, his 21st league goal this season. While his side might be out of the title race, Arokodare revealed his goal last night motivated him to go all out for the Golden Boot in his side’s final league game of the season.

“It’s nice to be the top scorer again. I knew I wouldn’t start (the game). Of course, we have other players who deserve to play minutes in the playoffs, so I could understand that choice.

“We were strong. We gave everything offensively, and that is reflected in the result. It was important to get this victory, especially after such a long period without a win.

“This will give us extra motivation to win the last home game as well. Of course, there is still disappointment about not winning the title, but we do want to end the season in style,” the former FC Koln striker told DAZN after the game.

Arokodare is currently level with St.Truiden’s Adriano Bertaccini on the Belgian Pro League top scorer’s chart. Both players have scored 21 goals each, and it’ll be interesting to see who nicks the award when the league wraps up this weekend.
