FAAN, ACI Africa host Aircraft Recovery Management training in Abuja

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), in collaboration with Airports Council International (ACI) Africa, has commenced a five-day onsite training on Aircraft Recovery Management in Abuja.

The training, which began on Monday, August 4, 2025, is taking place at The Palms Hotel, Abuja, and is expected to run through August 8. It brings together aviation professionals from across Africa, including participants from Nigeria, Cameroon, Zambia, Swaziland, Egypt, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritania, and Kenya.

Declaring the training open, FAAN’s Managing Director/Chief Executive, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku—ably represented by the Director of Special Duties, Mr. Henry Agbebire—emphasized the importance of experience sharing and cross-border collaboration among participants.

In her remarks delivered by Agbebire, the Managing Director encouraged participants to openly share their national experiences, network, and collaborate throughout the course in order to improve service delivery in their respective countries.

The training is focused on aircraft recovery procedures and the equipment required to efficiently manage such operations during emergencies or incidents on the runway or apron.

FAAN and ACI Africa said the initiative highlights the need to strengthen aviation safety and operational readiness across African airports.
