Popular media personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, professionally known as Do2dtun, has slammed Nigerians for consistently criticizing celebrities amid the insecurity and poor state of the economy.
Social media has recently been filled with several call-outs of celebrities for refusing to speak up on several issues, especially the insecurity crisis ravaging several places in Nigeria.
Addressing the criticisms directed at him and his colleagues, Do2dtun noted that Nigerians have lambasted celebrities up to the point that they have decided to keep silent.
He wondered why the responsibility of calling out the government solely rests on popular individuals, stressing that it is a collective responsibility. He also urged those criticizing public figures to channel their anger at those that betrayed them.
According to Do2dtun, a lot of Nigerians are suffering from trauma and their coping mechanism is to blame others for a situation that is affecting everyone.
Labelling the act as hypocrisy, he urged them to do better by airing their complaints to the right individuals.
He wrote on X:
”The ones that speak up, you bash them into depression. Now it has now become a bandwagon of set of people who just do it to be able to move in their lives in peace or don’t at all to have peace. You have insulted them into oblivion. Let everyone use their platform. Nigeria do not treat them differently. It is not JUST their duty to hold the government accountable. It is our DUTY. Face the ones that sold you out,
”Nigerians we are our biggest problem. We are so traumatized that we only look for people to attack over a disease that affects us all. We look for the cure with the wrong people, in the wrong places. A herbalist can only proffer a solution but he won’t use it on your behalf. Anything you see after his prescription , na only you go feel am when e burst. What’s sickening is you will see people that don’t do anything with their platforms but attack those that do. It’s HYPOCRISY of the highest order.”
