The family of 40-year-old Osas Azenabor has raised alarm over his mysterious disappearance after he was allegedly arrested by police officers during a raid in the Mile 12 area of Lagos State on November 1, 2024.
According to his relatives, Osas was taken into custody and moved to the Ketu Police Station but has not returned home since the arrest. His father, Francis Azenabor, said all attempts to locate him have been fruitless, prompting the family to seek legal help and petition the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh.
In a formal complaint submitted by their legal representative, Saidi Sanni, the family is demanding an immediate and thorough investigation into Osas’s whereabouts and calling for his unconditional release.
Part of the petition reads: “We are compelled to reach out directly due to the unlawful arrest and unexplained disappearance of our client by officers from Ketu Divisional Police Station on November 1, 2024.”
The family also alleged that despite numerous visits to the station, they received no useful information. Instead, they claim to have faced intimidation and even physical assault, with Osas’s younger brother reportedly attacked by officers during one of the visits.
The petition further appealed to the Police Commissioner to summon the officers involved in the raid and to ensure Osas is released without delay, while launching a formal investiga
tion into the circumstances of his detention.
Efforts to contact the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, proved unsuccessful as of press time, as calls and messages went unanswered.
