Fat Joe is not playing games — and definitely not staying quiet. The Bronx rap legend has just filed a federal lawsuit in New York against his former hypeman, Terrance Dixson, and Dixson’s attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, accusing the pair of launching a wild extortion and defamation campaign filled with disturbing (and allegedly made-up) accusations.
Here’s the drama: According to court docs, this all started on March 23, 2025, when Dixson and Blackburn sent Fat Joe a letter claiming Dixson had secretly worked as a ghostwriter and uncredited vocalist on several tracks between 2006 and 2019 — and now wanted to be paid for it. Fat Joe’s team says this was the first time such a claim had ever been raised. His response? Crickets.
So what did Dixson and his lawyer do? Turn up the pressure — all the way up.
On April 21, court documents say that they sent a second letter, this time threatening to sue unless Fat Joe handed over $20 million. And if that wasn’t wild enough, things went full social media meltdown. Dixson posted online accusing Joe of flying a 16-year-old girl across state lines for sex — tagging a photo of Joe with Diddy and DJ Khaled, because apparently, guilt by association is trending?
Fat Joe was quick to shut it all down. In a statement, he called the allegations “completely false” and said this was nothing more than a “criminal conspiracy” cooked up by a disgruntled former employee and his headline-hungry attorney. “The relentless threats, harassment, and defamation I’ve endured as they peddle salacious lies are utterly deplorable,” he said. “I’m taking legal action to expose their misconduct, and I’m fully confident the facts will reveal this is nothing more than a deceptive and desperate scam.”

His high-profile attorney, Joe Tacopina — yes, that Joe Tacopina — doubled down, calling the whole ordeal “a criminal extortion scheme” and warning that Blackburn has a history of using messy lawsuits to shake down famous people.
And that’s not just lawyer talk. The lawsuit includes some real courtroom receipts: multiple federal judges have already criticized Blackburn’s legal tactics. One judge said he files lawsuits filled with “salacious allegations” just to get media attention and pressure settlements. Another called out his court documents for being full of “irrelevant insults, misstatements, and exaggerations.” Translation: this isn’t Blackburn’s first dramatic rodeo.
Fat Joe’s legal team has also sent Blackburn a cease-and-desist letter, making it clear that they’re not backing down.
