THE Abuja Police command have apprehended a man who attempted suicide in protest of the country’s harsh socioeconomic conditions.

The man, Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau, climbed a 120-foot pole at ASO Radio in the Katampe neighbourhood of the nation’s capital earlier today, threatening to commit suicide.

“With much professional persuasion from the police operatives, the man later identified as Shuaibu Alhaji Yushau was prevented from taking his own life. He claimed to have been observing the mast for about a week before deciding to climb it.

“The suspect is presently in police custody and stable condition,” the spokesperson of the FCT Police Command Josephine Adeh said in a statement late this evening.

She said, “Further development will be communicated in due course”.

Recall that in 2018, one Nurudeen Lliyasu climbed a telecommunications mast in the nation’s capital, vowing to commit suicide due to hardship.
