The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has extended warm Christmas greetings to residents of the Territory, especially Christians, urging them to mark the season in the spirit of love, peace and unity.
In his 2025 Christmas message issued on Thursday, Wike described Christmas as a period of joy, giving, sharing and good neighbourliness, stressing that it also offers an opportunity for reflection and renewed commitment to harmony.
“I felicitate with Christians in the FCT as they celebrate Christmas and urge them to see this period as one of sober reflection, sharing goodwill and good tidings with fellow residents of the Territory, thereby fostering the peace, harmony and prosperity befitting the nation’s capital,” he said.
The minister also called on residents to use the festive season to pray for the country and its leaders.
“This occasion provides a unique opportunity for us to pray for our leaders and for Nigeria, so that we may enjoy peace and progress in the years ahead,” he added.
Wike expressed appreciation to FCT residents for their cooperation and support for the administration throughout 2025, noting that the past year recorded significant achievements across various sectors.
“It is indisputable that monumental developments have taken place in the last 12 months. Schools have been renovated, hospitals staffed and equipped, roads and bridges constructed across the area councils, the judiciary supported and security strengthened. It has indeed been a year of remarkable achievements, and we thank residents for their cooperation,” he said.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support towards the development of the FCT, as well as partners, stakeholders and the management and staff of the FCT Administration.
Reassuring residents of sustained development efforts, Wike said the FCT Administration would remain committed to providing infrastructure and services that positively impact the lives of residents.
On security, the minister urged residents to remain vigilant during the festive period.
“I advise all residents to be conscious of their security responsibilities as they celebrate and go about their lawful activities. Please report any suspicious movements to the security agencies.
Be assured that the FCT Administration is doing everything possible to safeguard lives and property during the festive season and beyond,” he said.
He assured that adequate measures had been put in place to ensure that residents enjoy a safe, secure and joyful Christmas celebration.
“Once again, on behalf of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, I wish all residents a Merry Christmas and happy celebrations,” Wike added.
