The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced a breakthrough in its fight against crime, confirming the arrest of five notorious bandits and the recovery of a large cache of arms and ammunition in a series of operations across the territory.
The command noted that the suspects, who have been on the wanted list of security agencies, were arrested between September 20 and 28, 2025, following days of intelligence-led raids coordinated by the Scorpion Squad.

The new arrests come barely days after another successful operation by the Command between September 15 and 18 in Guzape, Karu and Zinda Forest.
During that offensive, operatives tracked down and killed a notorious bandit leader, Abdullahi Umar, also known as “Duna,” alongside three members of his gang.
The Command said that Duna’s gang had been terrorising residents of the FCT and neighbouring states, coordinating kidnappings for ransom and violent robberies. His death, police believe, disrupted several planned attacks.
SP Adeh revealed the names of those arrested during the latest sweep as:
- Abdullahi Garuba, alias Alhaji Ore, male, 40 years
- Yusuf Inuwa, alias Alhaji Dabunda, male, 59 years
- David Kaika, alias Baba, male, 29 years
- Baba Imaji, female, 36 years
- Ibrahim Nasiru, popularly known as Pepper, male
“These individuals are notorious for their involvement in kidnappings across the North Central, North West and North East regions of the country,” Adeh said.
“They have been on the radar of the Police and other security agencies for a long time.”
Items recovered during the raid underscore the level of danger posed by the syndicate. Police displayed:
- 2,186 live rounds of 7.62 x 39mm AK-47 ammunition
- Two AK-47 rifles with obliterated serial numbers
- One locally fabricated pistol with two cartridges
- Five operational motorcycles used for attacks and abductions
“All suspects have confessed to their crimes and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations,” Adeh confirmed.
She added that efforts are underway to apprehend one more gang member who is still at large.
In addition to the bandit arrests, the FCT Police Command said it had intensified its crackdown on other criminal networks.
Between mid and late September, police arrested 11 drug dealers and dismantled a notorious “one-chance” syndicate that defrauded a victim of ₦2.7 million.
Operatives also recovered 68 bags of cannabis, vehicles, and other stolen items. The Command said these efforts are part of a broader strategy to make the capital city safer.
FCT Commissioner of Police, Ajao S. Adewale, commended the officers who executed the operations, describing them as gallant and committed.
“I reassure the public of my continued efforts to rid the FCT and its environs of crime and criminality,” the Commissioner said, pledging that the Command would sustain the momentum.
