FCT: Seven killed in building collapse

Abuja Collapse 4

SEVEN people have been confirmed dead following a building collapse in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The acting Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Abdulrahman Mohammed, made this announcement today during his inspection of the collapse site along Airport Road.

He explained that the incident occurred yesterday while individuals attempted to scavenge leftover materials from a building that was being demolished by the Federal Capital Development Control due to issues with land documents.

Mohammed also confirmed that two individuals are currently in the hospital receiving treatment and urged the public to refrain from jeopardizing their safety by entering demolished structures.

While the exact number of people inside the building at the time of the collapse has not been determined, the official reassured citizens that the agency’s rescue team remains active at the scene.
