THE Federal Government has announced Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, 2024, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025, as public holidays to mark Christmas, Boxing Day, and New Year celebrations, respectively.

In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, conveyed this announcement on behalf of the Federal Government.

He extended warm greetings to Nigerians and encouraged them to use the festive season to reflect on the values of love, peace, and unity that the celebrations represent.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo highlighted the importance of fostering harmony and strengthening familial and communal bonds during this period.

He also urged citizens to remain committed to the peace, unity, and progress of the nation, emphasizing their role in national development.

“The Christmas season offers an opportunity for spiritual reflection and national renewal. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Prince of Peace, let us show kindness and extend goodwill to one another, regardless of our differences,” the minister said.

He reassured Nigerians of the Federal Government’s dedication to ensuring peace, security, and prosperity across the country.

While wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, Dr. Tunji-Ojo expressed optimism that President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda would usher in a better economy in 2025, positioning Nigeria as a model of prosperity on the global stage.
