THE Super Eagles have maintained their position in the FIFA ranking, staying in the 38th spot for the December edition released today.
The Nigerian side were in the same spot in the November ranking, with their 1502 points also unchanged.
It is an improvement from the Super Eagles’ position at the beginning of the year, when they were 43rd with 1481 points in the first ranking of 2025 in April.
While 38th is the highest spot for the three-time African champions in 2025, their lowest was 45th, in September.
The Super Eagles, who are at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, end the year in fifth spot on the continent.
Morocco (11th in the world) are the top team in Africa, followed by Senegal (19th), Algeria (34th) and Egypt (35th).
Super Eagles’ AFCON group opponents are all ranked lower than Eric Chelle’s side, with Tunisia 41st in the world, Uganda 85th and Tanzania 112th.
Globally, Spain remain the No.1 team having knocked second-placed Argentina off their perch in the September instalment, while France complete the podium in the end of year line-up.
Alongside Croatia, fellow top 10 nations England (4th), Brazil (5th), Portugal (6th), the Netherlands (7th), Belgium (8th) and Germany (9th) remain unchanged.
