There are plenty of interesting, fun, and unique Baldur’s Gate 3 class mods available for players to re-experience the game in exciting new ways. One incredibly popular mod class comes from Matt Mercer’s iconic Blood Hunter D&D class.
While there have been great Blood Hunter class mods in the past, modder LemonsSoup has recently launched a comprehensive Blood Hunter class mod with all four dedicated subclasses included. The Blood Hunter is a martial class with spell-casting abilities that features a “hemocraft” mechanic, using the player’s health as a resource to enable or empower curses and attacks.
First Definitive Blood Hunter Class Mod Comes To BG3
All Four Subclasses Are Now Available In The Same Blood Hunter Mod
The Blood Hunter is a popular class in D&D from Matt Mercer, one that has seen a couple very good mod adaptations in the past, particularly from WolfeTK and xBernos. However, these previous Blood Hunter mods only featured limited subclasses in BG3, and players have been eagerly awaiting a comprehensive Blood Hunter class mod for years.
The newest Blood Hunter class mod is the very first attempt at a mod from LemonsSoup, and has gained a ton of attention since its release just a few weeks ago. It currently is in the top “Popular” mods on the BG3 mod list and has nearly 4,000 unique downloads.
The mod features all four dedicated Blood Hunter subclasses: Order of the Ghostslayer, Order of the Lycan, Order of the Mutant, and Order of the Profane Soul. Each of these offers a unique playstyle centered around various “hemocraft” mechanics and a unique starting weapon.
These include Blood Curse mechanics, Crimson Rite weapon buffs, a “Branding” status effect that causes enemies to suffer damage when attacking, and a Blood Sacrifice system that enhances various attacks at the cost of player health. This new Blood Hunter class mod has been balanced to be a viable martial class in BG3, as it is often described as under-powered in a D&D setting.
Blood Hunter Is A Must-Play Class Mod In BG3
Blood Hunter Requires Strategic Gameplay & Careful Resource Management
If you’ve never played the Blood Hunter class in D&D or BG3, this new mod is the perfect excuse to give it a go and start another run. “The class feels and plays most similar to a Ranger, but with its own resource instead of spell slots,” LemonsSoup explains. Blood Hunters will “need to balance aggression with defense to get the most out of combat.”
The class mod features a unique “finesse longsword” starting weapon that can be picked up early in your playthrough on a corpse near the end of the Nautiloid escape. Each subclass enables a different playstyle, such as the Order of the Mutant’s ability to craft “Mutagen Formulas” that give players permanent buffs/debuffs, or Order of the Lycan’s “Lycan Hybrid” transformation skill.
Overall, Blood Hunter is the bloodiest BG3 experience you’re likely to come across, and I’d highly recommend a Dark Urge Blood Hunter run to get the most out of the roleplaying experience. This is a must-play Baldur’s Gate 3 mod that fans of martial classes will thoroughly enjoy.
