Former South-West PDP Publicity Secretary, Fadaka Dumps Party, Explains Why

A former South-West Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ayo Fadaka, has resigned from the opposition party, citing what he described as persistent internal crises and opportunistic leadership that have weakened its structure.

Naijaonpoint reports that Fadaka, who also served as the Director of Media and Publicity of the PDP in Ondo State, announced his resignation on Thursday, January 22,  in a letter personally signed by him.

Describing his exit as a difficult choice, Fadaka said the decision became unavoidable due to the manner in which the party is being run by leaders he accused of prioritising personal interests over collective growth.

According to him, the PDP, once regarded as the pride of politicians across the country, has been “decimated” by internal sabotage and poor leadership.

The resignation letter was addressed to the Ward 8 Chairman of the PDP in Akure and copied to the Akure South Local Government Chairman, as well as the Ondo State and South-West Chairmen of the party.

In the letter, Fadaka lamented that some individuals within the party merely saw it as a meal ticket, rather than a platform for public service and democratic ideals.

He wrote, “The PDP is a victim of ill-bred individuals who unfortunately rose to very lofty heights through it and eventually turned around to stab it mercilessly.”

Fadaka further described such individuals as “characters who are bereft of integrity and depth, yet possess an uncanny ability to shamelessly prosecute an evil agenda to liquidate a party that in its days of glory was regarded as the ‘biggest party in Africa’ from within.”

The former spokesman also accused another group within the party of engaging in rent-seeking activities, warning that such practices were inimical to the survival of any political organisation.

“Aside from this class is another thriving group of ‘rent-seeking and taking’ privileged class, to whom the party remains a meal ticket and is ever ready, without conscience, to compromise its interest without blinking an eye; no party thrives in such circumstances,” he stated.

As of the time of filing this report, Fadaka has yet to disclose his next political destination.

However, speculations, according to Daily Post, are that he is being courted by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
