Four members of the House of Representatives have dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC.
Naijaonpoint reports that the lawmaker representing Yamaltu/Deba federal constituency of Gombe, Inuwa Garuba Abdullahi El-Rasheed of Dakku/Nafada federal constituency of Gombe, and Mohammed Audu representing Karim Lamido Lau/Ardo-Kola federal constituency, defected from the PDP to the APC.
Similarly, the lawmaker representing Abuja Municipal/Bwari federal constituency of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Obika Chinedu, moved from the LP to the APC
In the same vein, Adewale Adebayo, who represents Irepodun/Olorunda/Osogbo/Orolu federal constituency of Osun state, formally joined Accord from the PDP.
Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, who read the defection notices during Wednesday’s plenary, said the lawmakers cited internal crises in their former parties as the reason for their defection.
Meanwhile, Rivers West senator, Ipalibo Banigo, has dumped the PDP for the APC.
Banigo announced her resignation from PDP during plenary at the Senate on Tuesday, March 10, stating her intention to align politically with the Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara and the administration of President Bola Tinubu.
In the letter, which was read on the floor of the Senate by the President, Godwill Akpabio, Banigo also said she wants to support efforts to advance development in Rivers State.
The lawmaker further stated that her decision to join the APC followed extensive consultations with her constituents and political associates.
