In a 90-second video clip posted online, the man can be seen repeatedly running towards residents of the charming Alpine town of Annecy, injuring at least six people, including four children under the age of five who are now in critical condition.
A 31-year-old Syrian national with legal asylum status in France was later charged by police with carrying out the attack, which President Emmanuel Macron called an “act of absolute cowardice”.
As heartbreaking screams fill the air, the suspect in black rushes out of the Le Paquiet Park playground as the video begins.

In the six-second video, a man fleeing through a park while being chased by bystanders wears black shorts and a sweatshirt. A cap is also on the man’s head. In the distance, there are screams.

One of the best animation festivals in the world, which starts on Sunday, will be held in Annecy, a picturesque town in the French Alps near the Swiss border.
In footage of the attack, the suspect can be seen sprinting through the park before focusing on a baby in a stroller. A woman tries to stop him, but he rushes aside and repeatedly stabs the child.
Before being shot by police near the shores of Lake Annecy, witnesses reported the alleged knife roaming around in a frenzy and stabbing seemingly random individuals.
